The best time to visit Koh Lanta is during the dry season from November to April, when the weather is pleasant and rainfall is minimal. The peak tourist season is from December to February, while the shoulder seasons of November and April offer a quieter experience. The rainy season lasts from May to October. I visited Koh Lanta in November 2022, and it still rained quite a lot.

The regular boat service between Krabi and Koh Lanta stops running around the end of April each year. As a result, many businesses on the island begin to close in late May and stay closed until November when the season starts again.

Visiting Koh Lanta during the low season from June to November is still possible, but there are fewer options available. It’s not just about the rain during this time; the west side of the island can experience strong storms that damage the beaches and even destroy bamboo huts.

The most common way to reach Koh Lanta is by minivan. The minivans to Koh Lanta run on a daily basis all year round. During the high season from November to April, there are daily boat connections available between Krabi Island and the mainland.
